The EM-Tec Versa-Plate adaptable SEM sample holders consists of a flat base plate with multiple M4 threaded holes and a set of movable sample holding brackets. The brackets can be positioned at any of the M4 threaded holes to perfectly suit the size and shape of the sample. Each bracket can be rotated a fully 360° and is fastened on the base plate with an M4 screw. The brackets include an M3 stainless thumb screws to secure the sample. The multiple bracket position capability makes this one of the most versatile SEM sample holders. The base plates of the EM-Tec Versa-Plate sample holders are made from stress-free, vacuum grade, aluminium tooling plate to maintain flatness. All screws on the brackets are made from non-magnetic stainless steel. Each holder is supplied complete with base plate, brackets, M4 screws and M3 thumb screws. Additional brackets and thumb screws are optionally available. The EM-Tec Versa-Plate sample holders are ideally suited for:

The available standard EM-Tec Versa-Plate adaptable SEM sample holders are:
- H45 sample holder plate size of 106x58mm, 9×5 M4 threaded holes with a pitch of 12mm
- H49 sample holder plate size of 82x82mm, 7×7 M4 threaded holes with a pitch of 12mm
- H81 sample holder plate size of 106x106mm, 9×9 M4 threaded holes with a pitch of 12mm
- H121 sample holder plate size of 150x150mm, 11×11 M4 threaded holes with a pitch of 14mm
- S25 standard bracket with 25mm height and two mounting positions
- S15 low profile mounting bracket with a single mounting position
EM-Tec Versa-Plate UV1 Universal clamping kit
The optionally available EM-Tec Versa-Plate UV1 Universal clamping kit has been designed to hold samples which are difficult to hold with the standard brackets. The EM-Tec UV1 Universal clamping kit is ideal for thin plates, thick samples up to 66mm and heavy samples. Materials used for the UV1 clamping kit are aluminium, stainless steel and brass. The EM-Tec UV1 Universal clamping kit contains:
- 2 x EM-Tec SC80 multi-hole 80mm long aluminium clamping strips
- 3 x EM-Tec SC20 short aluminium clamping strip including S-clips for thin samples
- 8 x EM-Tec SC4 brass knurled nuts
- 1 set of stainless steel M4 screws: 4 x M4x70mm + 4 x M4 x35mm + 4 x M4 x 15mm + 4 x M4 x20mm
- 1 set of stainless steel M4 nuts: 6 x M4 hex nuts + 6 x M4 square nuts
- 12 x stainless steel M4 washers
Additional SEM stage adaptability
The design of the EM-Tec Versa-Plate holders allow for mounting the EM-Tec SEM stage adapters (all with an M4 screw), at any of the M4 threaded holes at the back of the base plate. Standard position of the SEM stage adapter is the centre of the base plate. However, by mounting at other positions, the EM-Tec Versa-Plate SEM sample holder can be used at off-set positions on the SEM sample stage. This enables examining larger samples than the available X-Y travel range of the SEM stage.
